Milestones and Memories

Discover the stories behind the bricks and why our community chose to give back through this tradition.

“A number of TCNJ professors saw more in me than I saw in myself. How do you express enough gratitude for that?” – Richard A. Swanson, Class President ’64

“I have a brick at The College of New Jersey as a reminder of the college that prepared me for my career as a social worker! I always want to remember the incredible memories I made and the people I met at TCNJ.” – Julianna August ‘23

“I wanted a brick at the college as a way to leave my mark in the place that has left an everlasting impression on my life. TCNJ helped create some of my best memories, relationships and opened the door to so many transformative opportunities. I am a proud alumni of the college and wanted that to be displayed in Alumni Grove.” – Joe Fardella ’23

“My mom, Michele, graduated from TCNJ with her bachelor’s degree, and a few years later with her master’s degree while she taught. Growing up, I wanted to be just like her, so I pursued my degree in history & secondary education at TCNJ so I could be a teacher. I am teaching now, and my mom is a principal. She is my biggest inspiration, so I decided to get a brick made to commemorate both our accomplishments and pride in being TCNJ graduates.” – Sarah Henry ’23

“My brick includes both me and my mother, a graduate from Trenton State College. When I first visited TCNJ with my mom in high school, I knew it was the only college I wanted to attend. I originally followed in her footsteps and started as a nursing major, and although I eventually changed my major, my mom has continued to be my biggest supporter. I am so happy to have this brick on campus forever to commemorate our relationship!” – Gina Benedetti ’23
